Every year thousands of families from Noida, Greater Noida and Delhi set out on the Char Dham pilgrimage. Most of them want the same things: safe mountain driving, clean hotels, enough time for darshan and a plan that works for elderly parents. A well-designed 4 Dham Yatra package takes care of all of this so you can focus on the spiritual side of the journey. This guide explains the standard itinerary, what should be included, how to pick the right vehicle and what documents you need in 2026.
What is a 4 Dham Yatra package?
A 4 Dham Yatra package is a pre-planned pilgrimage that covers the four sacred shrines of Uttarakhand – Yamunotri (Goddess Yamuna), Gangotri (Goddess Ganga), Kedarnath (Lord Shiva) and Badrinath (Lord Vishnu). The circuit is traditionally done from west to east, starting at Yamunotri and ending at Badrinath.
People often use two names for the same trip. "4 Dham" and "Char Dham" both mean four abodes, so a char dham yatra package and a 4 Dham package are the same product. What really differs is the travel mode (road or helicopter), the vehicle, the hotel category and the number of days.
Which package types do we offer?
Kashi Travels plans road-based pilgrimages out of Noida. Families usually choose one of these formats:

| Group package | 8–25 travellers | 12/16/25 seater Tempo Traveller | 11–12 days |
| Do Dham add-on | Kedarnath + Badrinath only | Any of the above | 6–7 days |

What is included in our 4 Dham Yatra package?
A clear list of inclusions avoids arguments later. Our standard 4 Dham Yatra package covers:
- A private, sanitised vehicle for the full journey with an experienced hill driver.
- Pickup and drop at your home in Noida, Greater Noida, Noida Extension, Ghaziabad or Delhi.
- Fuel, driver allowance and driver's night stay.
- Hotel stays in the category you choose (standard, deluxe or premium).
- Help with Char Dham registration and a document checklist.
- 24x7 phone support from our Noida office.
Usually excluded: tolls, parking, state entry tax (charged at actuals), meals unless chosen, pony/palki/doli charges, helicopter tickets, puja fees and personal expenses. We explain every exclusion on the quote, so you can compare our char dham yatra package with any other operator line by line.
How to choose the right vehicle
The vehicle decides how comfortable your char dham yatra package will feel over 11 days. Here is simple guidance:
- Swift Dzire (sedan): Economical for 2–3 people with light luggage. Fine on the Char Dham highways, but leg space is limited for long days.
- Ertiga (MUV): Good for 4–5 people with moderate luggage.
- Innova Crysta (SUV): The most popular choice for families with seniors – better suspension, more space and a smoother ride on mountain roads.
- Tempo Traveller (12, 16 or 25 seats): Ideal for groups, satsang mandalis and extended families. Read about the 12 seater tempo traveller for seating and luggage details.
Commercial vehicles going to Uttarakhand need valid permits and a green card from the transport department. All our vehicles are commercially registered with the required permits.
Documents and registration for 2026
Registration is mandatory for every pilgrim. Before we start the trip, each traveller must be registered on the official Uttarakhand Tourist Care portal. Carry:
- Aadhaar card, passport or voter ID (original and photocopy)
- Char Dham registration QR code or printout for every person
- Medical fitness certificate for travellers above 55 or with health conditions
- Vehicle documents (our driver carries these)
Our step-by-step Char Dham Yatra registration guide shows how to register family members on one mobile number.
2026 temple opening dates
The shrines opened for the 2026 season on these dates:
| Temple | Opening date 2026 | Expected closing |
|---|---|---|
| Yamunotri | 19 April | Around 11 November |
| Gangotri | 19 April | Around 10 November |
| Kedarnath | 22 April | Around 11 November |
| Badrinath | 23 April | Around 13 November |
Always verify darshan timings and closing dates with the Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee before final booking.
What does a 4 Dham Yatra package cost?
We do not publish a fixed price, because five things change the final amount:
- Season: May and early June are peak weeks; September–October is usually more relaxed.
- Vehicle type: A sedan costs less than an Innova Crysta or tempo traveller.
- Hotel category: Standard, deluxe or premium.
- Number of days: Extra rest days add hotel and driver costs.
- Add-ons: Helicopter seats, pony/palki, special puja, or extra sightseeing like Chopta or Auli.
Share your dates and group size on WhatsApp and our team will send a detailed quote. You can also read our Char Dham Yatra cost guide to understand the budget in detail.
Treks and walking: what to expect
The road ends before two of the four temples, so walking is part of every road-based pilgrimage:
- Yamunotri: About 6 km uphill from Janki Chatti. Pony, palki and doli are available.
- Gangotri: The temple is next to the road, with a short walk from the parking area.
- Kedarnath: About 16–18 km from Gaurikund. Pony, palki, pithoo and helicopter shuttles are options.
- Badrinath: Road reaches the town; the temple is a short walk away.
If a parent cannot walk long distances, book the Kedarnath helicopter shuttle early or arrange a palki. Our team explains both options while planning your 4 Dham Yatra package.
Best time to travel
The most comfortable months for a char dham yatra package are May, June (first half), September and October. July and August bring monsoon rain and landslides, and travel is not advised for families. April and November are cold at night. Our guide on the best time for Char Dham Yatra gives month-wise weather and crowd levels.
Places worth seeing on the way
A road-based char dham yatra package is not only about four temples. The route passes some of the most beautiful and sacred places in Uttarakhand, and we include short halts wherever time allows:
- Haridwar: Evening Ganga aarti at Har Ki Pauri on the first night sets the tone for the whole pilgrimage.
- Mussoorie and Kempty Falls: A short photo stop on the way to Barkot.
- Uttarkashi: The ancient Kashi Vishwanath temple and the Shakti temple opposite it.
- Harsil and Gangnani: Apple orchards, the Bhagirathi valley and natural hot springs.
- Devprayag: The confluence of the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi, where the river takes the name Ganga.
- Rudraprayag and Karnaprayag: Two of the Panch Prayag confluences on the Badrinath highway.
- Guptkashi and Ukhimath: The winter seat of Lord Kedarnath and the Vishwanath temple of Guptkashi.
- Mana village: Called the first village of India, with Vyas Gufa, Ganesh Gufa and Bhim Pul near Badrinath.
- Rishikesh: Laxman Jhula, Ram Jhula and the Triveni Ghat aarti on the way home.
The state tourism department publishes maps and destination guides on the Uttarakhand Tourism website, which are useful if you want to add a day or two to your trip.
Hotels, food and daily routine on the yatra
Hotels on the Char Dham circuit are simpler than city hotels, and it helps to set expectations early. In Barkot, Uttarkashi and Guptkashi you will find clean mid-range hotels with hot water. At Kedarnath, stays are mostly basic guest houses, tents or government camps close to the temple. Badrinath has a good choice of hotels and dharamshalas.
Food on the route is almost entirely vegetarian. Most hotels serve simple North Indian meals – dal, rice, roti, sabzi and parathas. Families with special diets such as Jain or satvik food should tell us in advance, and we will pick hotels that can manage it.
A typical day starts early. We usually leave the hotel by 6–7 am to avoid traffic and afternoon rain, and reach the next stop by late afternoon. Our drivers take breaks every two to three hours for tea and rest, and avoid driving after sunset in the hills.
What to pack for a 10–12 day road trip
Packing well makes a big difference, especially for seniors. Our checklist for every char dham yatra package includes:
- Two sets of warm clothes, thermal inner wear, woollen cap, gloves and socks.
- A raincoat or poncho and a waterproof cover for bags.
- Comfortable sports shoes plus slippers for temples and hotels.
- Personal medicines for the full trip plus a few extra days.
- A small backpack for the Yamunotri and Kedarnath treks.
- Torch, power bank, sunglasses, sunscreen and lip balm.
- Dry fruits and glucose for the treks.
Keep valuables to a minimum. Mobile phones and cameras are restricted inside temple premises in 2026, so plan to deposit them as instructed at each Dham.
Health and safety tips
- Get a medical check-up before the trip if you are above 55 or have BP, diabetes or heart problems.
- Carry warm clothes – nights at Kedarnath and Badrinath can drop near freezing even in May.
- Drink water regularly, walk slowly at altitude and rest when tired.
- Avoid night driving in the hills; our drivers stop before dark wherever possible.
- Keep the driver's and our office number saved on every phone in the group.
